By train (Deutsche Bahn):
Take the train to KA-Hauptbahnhof (main station) from airports and major cities.
Exceptions: When coming from Bretten, Pforzheim/Wörth or Baden-Baden, take the S-Bahn (rapid-transit railway) S4, S5 and/or S7 directly to Karlsruhe Kronenplatz (U). When coming from Linkenheim/Eggenstein or Ettlingen, take the S-Bahn S1 or S11 to Karlsruhe Marktplatz and change the connection in direction of Kronenplatz (U).
From Karlsruhe Hbf, traveling by tram:
At the station forecourt take one of the following rapid-transit railways or trams:
- S4 - Direction: Bretten / Eppingen / Heilbronn / Weinsberg / Öhringen
- S7 - Direction: Karlsruhe Tullastr.
- S8 - Direction: Karlsruhe Tullastr.
- 2 - Direction: Wolfartsweier
These rapid-transit railway/tram stops at Kronenplatz (U) as well. You will need a ticket for 2 fare zones. You will have to by the ticket outside the train at ticket machines at the train stops or via app (e.g. DB Navigator).
Stop at Kronenplatz (U) (travel time approx. 8 mins). You will find yourself on the Kaiserstrasse, at the junction of Waldhornstraße. Turn into Waldhornstrasse (heading northwards towards the Karlsruhe palace) and go straight till you reach a cross road. Turn right and you will be at the West Entrance of the KIT South Campus. Keep going straight ahead and you will reach the building 30.10, after crossing the Engesserstrasse, on your left.
To go to the LTI (building 30.34), instead of crossing the Engesserstrasse, turn right at the cross road into Engesserstrasse. It takes about 3 minutes of walking and you will find LTI on your left.
