Systemvalidierung von Fahrzeugradaren für auto-Mobile over-the-air

The aim of the SafeMove project is the concept and implementation of a reliable, reproducible and real-time test bed for radar systems. Thus, the setup can evaluate new radars for autonomous driving by using different hardware and software tools. Hardware-in-the-loop tools can be used during the whole development and stimulate the wireless channel of complex environments like in real life traffic scenarios.

An additional aim is to establish a new standard process for evaluation of radar systems using multiple radar target and interferer simulators. This allows strictly defined and reproducible scenarios what would not be possible in the real road traffic. Therefore, the setup is flexible, scalable and independent of specific street layouts and car makes. This offers the possibility to compare different systems in a neutral manner.

The resulting system should support design and development of new radar systems in three steps (virtual test, channel emulator and field test) and thus shorten the necessary development cycles efficiently. Firstly, a virtual evaluation is possible, followed by measurements in the new test bed. Driving the car in real scenarios is only the last step resulting in lower costs.

The solution will be a virtual environment to simulate the real traffic. Therefore, target simulators will be implemented which can stimulate the radar systems and cameras.
